South Korean military officials tell “Reuters” that North Korea fired an unknown “projectile” into an area east of North Korea identified as Japan’s exclusive economic zone.  It’s unknown at this time what kind of projectile was launched.

Here’s the analysis from Stratfor Geopolitical Intelligence:

“North Korea fired an unidentified projectile from the region of Wonsan on its east coast in an easterly direction, South Korea’s military said, Reuters reported May 28. The launch was immediately reported to South Korean President Moon Jae In, who called a meeting of the National Security Council, the South Korean office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement. The projectile was likely a ballistic missile, Yonhap news agency said citing an unidentified source. The projectile is likely to fall within Japan’s exclusive economic zone. North Korea on May 28 also said it had tested a new anti-aircraft weapon supervised by leader Kim Jong Un.”
